2015-2016
Some "end of the year" activities. Good luck in middle school!
Here are a few pictures from our field trip to Kansas State University!
Science Fair projects
A little "boys versus girls" competition at our Valentine's Day party. The boys won!
Our science class participated in an IDL project. We created our own catapults using rubber bands, popsicle sticks, and a spoon.
5th graders did a great job with their "Christmas Around the World" projects. They finished their research and presented their PowerPoints on December 18th. We sampled some food from various countries. This is a picture of all of their paper doll models in our display case.
5th graders did a great job at their music program. We also had a lot of fun at our holiday party.
A few lucky 5th graders had the privilege of reenacting a book with Ms. Susan in front of the whole school. They did a wonderful job!
Here are some pictures from our Halloween parade and party.
The Herington Fire Department visited us on October 6th to talk to us about fire safety.
We enjoyed some indoor recess activities!
On Friday, September 18th, the chamber community orchestra visited Herington Elementary! They performed for us and then we were able to experiment with the string instruments and learn a few things.
We had a great time finishing our study of Native American groups. If you would like to learn more about our project, check out the post on the "Student Reports" tab.
Back to school has been action packed with lots of fun team building activities! We were able to use the gym (Thanks Mrs. Kasten!) to practice working with groups making letters, words, and even a GIANT 5th! It took a lot of hard work to get the letters looking good, especially when the teachers said we were no longer allowed to use voices and could only make hand gestures! Luckily, we were able to come together and get the job done!
